The Pension Protection Fund (PPF) has appointed Hans den Boer as its chief risk officer.
Den Boer (pictured) joins the lifeboat fund having previously worked at Royal Bank of Scotland and ABN Amro in a number of senior risk management roles in the Netherlands, Australia, US and the UK.
At the PPF he will oversee all of the fund’s risk functions and become a member of the executive committee.
PPF chief executive Alan Rubenstein said: “Hans is taking up a crucial role at the PPF. His expertise in financial and risk management will be invaluable as we continue to grow in scale and complexity. One of our primary objectives is to ‘Pursue our mission within a high calibre framework of risk management’, and Hans’ knowledge and leadership experience will not only serve to strengthen our position but also demonstrates our commitment to best risk management practice within the industry.”
Last year, the fund’s executive director of financial risk, Martin Clarke, left to become government actuary.
