The NAPF is to launch a new programme of classroom-based seminars and workshops to help improve trustee knowledge and understanding, incoming chairman Ruston Smith confirmed.
In his inaugural speech at the NAPF conference in Manchester, Smith said the NAPF Academy would launch early next year and offer four distinct faculties, entitled: human resources; trustee; leadership and professional development and Pension practitioners.
The Academy will include the NAPF’s existing training programmes, including the Trustee Learning Zones, and will be run in partnership universities in the UK and internationally to offer courses. Itn addition to class-based training, courses will also be accessible online.
NAPF chief executive Joanne Segars said: “It is important that we continue to develop innovative training programmes and deliver flexible and diversified learning opportunities for today’s trustees, scheme administrators and pension professionals.”
NAPF educational development manager Frances Corbett added: “The NAPF Academy has been set up to improve professionalism and standards in the pensions industry. The Academy’s priorities are to improve learner experience and outcomes, to enhance the reputation of the sector, to develop good practice and to make the sector an attractive place to join and work.”
