The Local Authority Pension Fund Forum has named Councillor Kieran Quinn as its new chairman.

Quinn, who chairs the Greater Manchester Pension Fund, takes over from West Yorkshire Pension Fund chairman Ian Greenwood as head of the LAPFF executive.

Greenwood, who lost his Bradford City Council seat in May, stood down as LAPFF chairman after serving since 2008. He will become vice-chairman of the Forum, alongside Councillor Cameron Rose from Lothian Pension Fund.

Two new members have also been appointed to LAPFF’s executive: Councillor John Gray from London Borough of Newham Pension Fund and Councillor Patricia Glasman, chairwoman of Merseyside Pension Fund.

“Over the last few years LAPFF has grown rapidly in both membership and influence,” said Quinn. “Our work on issues such as accounting standards and remuneration reform has broken new ground, and engagements at companies such as Marks & Spencer and News Corporation have given us a much higher profile.

“I hope I can build on Ian’s record and cement LAPFF’s position as the UK’s leading shareholder body.”
