Catherine Redmond has joined BESTrustees in the client-facing role of trustee executive.

Redmond (pictured) is a qualified actuary with more than 20 years’ experience in pensions. She has spent the last 10 years working for the trustee boards of some of the largest private sector pension schemes in the UK, covering both defined benefit and defined contribution (DC).

Her last role was at BT Pension Scheme Management where she spent more than four years as a member of the management committee. Here she supported the trustee at the £46bn scheme and led the operational aspects of various member data, benefit audit, legislative change and liability management exercises.

Prior to that, she was a director and part of the pensions fund executive at the Barclays UK Retirement Fund responsible for scheme secretariat, member administration and communications for its 250,000 members.

Her DC investment experience involves the redesign of a default fund, resulting in the launch of one of the first large scale and award-winning UK diversified growth funds.

Earlier in her career she worked at Towers Perrin (now Willis Towers Watson) on a variety of domestic and international total reward assignments. Before that she was a product development actuary for Canada Life in Ireland.

BESTrustees chairman Alan Pickering said he was delighted at the appointment, adding Redmond’s “outgoing personality and wide experience” will considerably enhance the firm’s offering to clients.

Pickering added: “Diversity is a hallmark of our business and Catherine’s skillset certainly brings added variety to the way in which we can meet the needs of our growing client base.”
